How Russia is trying to deceive Ukrainian Air Defense systems
The Russian drones that fell on the territory of Moldova during the shelling of Odesa region turned out to be "Parodies". Their purpose is to distract the attention of Ukrainian air defense forces.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (the GUR) on Monday, November 11.
What is known about fake drones
According to the DIU, in October, Russia launched more than 2,000 drones into Ukraine. Approximately half of them are decoys or fake targets that Russians use to distract attention and overload Ukrainian air defense.
"The Parodiia is one of the main decoy drones used by the aggressor in air attacks. On November 10, 2024, two such drones crashed on the territory of Moldova," the intelligence officers say.
The DIU explained that the "Parodies" do not have a combat unit, but radar imitate chessmen. According to intelligence, the flight controller module of such a drone contains parts made in China (Ebyte, Jiashan Jinchang Electron, Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology), the United States (Texas Instruments, Cypress Semiconductor, InvenSense), Switzerland (STMicroelectronics), and Taiwan (SONiX Technology).
Drones in Moldova
During the attack on the Odesa region on the night of November 10, monitoring channels reported a Russian drone that flew into Moldova from the Black Sea. In the morning, the drone was found near the village of Farladany.
This is not the first such case. For example, in April, the wreckage of a downed drone was found near the town of Etulia-Vladiceni, Vulcanesti district of Moldova.
