Military vehicles and railroad equipment set on fire — saboteurs to be tried in Odesa
Three young Odesa residents were notified of suspicion of sabotage and obstruction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On the instructions of Russian special services, they set fire to property of the military and Ukrzaliznytsia. Now they may be imprisoned for a long time.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Recruited in a messenger
According to the investigation, the 29-year-old Odesa resident was looking for "easy money". He was contacted by a representative of the Russian Federation in one of the messengers and offered to make money on arson. The young man involved two of his acquaintances in the criminal activity.
The saboteurs meticulously planned their crimes, carrying them out at night. They first scouted potential target locations and coordinated their findings with their supervisor. Subsequently, they committed arson, recording the acts on video, and sent the report to their client. This is how they set fire to a military pickup truck and a relay cabinet on the railroad.
What awaits criminals
The detainees are currently in custody. They have been informed that they are suspected of two crimes at the same time. They could be sentenced to five to eight years in prison for obstructing the legitimate activities of the armed forces during a special period. The penalty for sabotage during wartime is even harsher — from fifteen years to life imprisonment.
As a reminder, a native of Zaporizhzhia received a conditional term for attempted arson to a military vehicle in Odesa region. He pleaded guilty and made a deal with the prosecutor.
The Odesa resident also set fire to a hospital because he was offended by the fact that he had received an injection.
