Russia wants to recapture Kherson — how real is the threat?
The Russians have not abandoned their plans to recapture the right bank of the Kherson region and the regional center itself. But it is unlikely that the enemy has such capabilities, given the strength of the Ukrainian defense line.
This was stated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Yurii Sobolevskyi on Ranok.LIVE.
Occupiers' activity intensifies
According to Yurii Sobolevsky, Russian attempts to get to the right bank of the Dnipro River have been taking place regularly since the de-occupation of Kherson. There are constant hostilities, shelling and attempted assaults by sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
"As for, let's say, the increase in their activity, we can recognize it. Because the number of attacks that we are facing now is much higher on some days than before. But this does not necessarily mean that they are preparing a large-scale airborne operation," says the deputy head of the regional council.
The enemy's capabilities
Yurii Sobolevskyi argues that the slogan of "returning" Kherson has become part of the occupiers' ideology. But they do not have enough strength for this.
"There is no doubt that they have it in their plans. They continue to spread their propaganda in the information space that they will "return" Kherson. But I have great doubts whether they have such capabilities," says the deputy chairman of the regional council.
Yurii Sobolevskyi reminded that the first line of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Dnipro is quite strong, and every time during enemy attacks, Ukrainian defenders eliminate a large number of occupants. Therefore, there is no serious threat to the city.
Earlier, we reported that the enemy is not abandoning its plans to launch a new offensive in southern Ukraine. The right-bank part of the Kherson region and Zaporizhzhia are under threat. At the same time, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, head of the internal and information policy department of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, called the rumors about the Russian offensive on Kherson a fake.
