Ukraine without US help — will assets be transferred on time?
During his election campaign, US President-elect Donald Trump promised to reduce the amount of military aid to Ukraine. Therefore, our country is now counting on more active support from European partners and NATO member states to avoid dependence on the United States. How realistic is it to do without foreign support, and is there an alternative?
Anatolii Boiko, the Head of the Odesa regional organization of the Committee of Voters, told Novyny.LIVE exclusively.
US support for Ukraine
Until Trump takes office in the White House, all decisions continue to be made by the Biden government. Thus, at least until next summer, Ukraine will have sufficient US support.
"Biden has another $6 billion in assets that have not yet been used for their intended purpose. In addition, the United States has $5 billion in assets of the Russian Central Bank, which the Biden administration could also theoretically have time to confiscate and transfer to us," says the head of the Committee of Voters.
In addition, Ukraine is supported not only by the United States, but also by EU countries. According to the expert, it will be much easier for partners on the mainland to support Ukraine both economically and militarily.
"I don't see any apocalyptic scenario for us. We have enough partners who will not abandon us. And Trump is not yet in the White House, so we should not panic," adds Mr. Boiko.
Postwar reconstruction of Ukraine
After the end of active hostilities, Ukraine will experience a real economic boom, just like Germany did, as many investors will come to the country. However, for this to happen, it needs to be safe enough.
"If we establish a security regime here like in Korea, as was once the case in Germany, a lot of private investment will come here, which will help us get out of completely critical situations quite quickly. Ukraine is just some kind of fairy-tale country where business and the economy are not falling, despite the efforts of its own government. Our business and economy should just be left alone, they will pull through just fine, and the country will develop," Anatolii Boiko emphasizes.
Three years of a grueling war have taken their toll on entrepreneurs, so we need to help boost the economy today, even during the war. This will show our partners that we really want to become part of the progressive and civilized world.
"For three years now, we have been confronting one of the largest, most militarily powerful states, which is completely incommensurate with our potential. We were given three days, three weeks... We can not only survive further, we can completely restore the country. We just need to approach it responsibly, with a cold mind, and look for opportunities. It is desirable that the state helps society in this," Anatolii Boiko summarizes.
Despite all the anxieties and worries, it is now clear that Ukraine will not be left without support. After all, the integrity of the whole of Europe, and perhaps the whole world, depends on the integrity of our country.
Earlier, we wrote that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will call on U.S. President Joe Biden to provide a $20 billion loan to Ukraine.
And Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, MP Yehor Cherniev, said that the six billion dollars the United States is preparing to provide as aid to Ukraine should be enough for the period until Donald Trump's inauguration.
