Time to return — Ukraine makes a loud statement on Transnistria
Moldova should regain control over the territory of the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldovan Republic". This will also benefit Ukraine, as it will eliminate the pro-Russian enclave near its borders.
This was stated by Taras Chmut, head of the Come Back Alive Foundation, in social platform X.
Patching the "black hole"
According to the volunteer, in order to eliminate the so-called "TMR", local armed groups should be disarmed and Russian troops should be withdrawn from the territory.
"Disarmament of the local "armed forces" and "police" withdrawal of about 200 Russian military personnel and the end of the history of this '"lack hole" in Europe and on our border," Taras Chmut wrote.
Russian troops in Transnistria
An Operational Group of Russian troops operates on the territory of the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldovan Republic". It is the successor to the 14th Army of the Russian Federation, which took part in the 1992 military conflict. According to Ukrainian media reports, the group has 1,500 military personnel, up to 100 armored vehicles, and about a dozen Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters.
To recap, Chisinau has denied Russian intelligence claims that Moldova is allegedly preparing a military operation in the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldovan Republic". The country continues to support a peaceful resolution of the conflict. We also reported that, according to experts, the fate of Transnistria will be influenced by negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
