Military operation in Transnistria — Moldova commented
Chisinau has denied Russian intelligence claims that Moldova is allegedly preparing a military operation in the unrecognized "Transnistrian Moldovan Republic". The country continues to support a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
This was stated by the head of the administration of the Republic of Moldova, Adrian Belucel.
What they say in Chisinau
According to the official, fake news is spreading online that the Moldovan authorities are allegedly preparing a military invasion of Transnistria. This is a serious and dangerous disinformation aimed at sowing panic and distrust in society.
"We reiterate that Chisinau remains firmly committed to a peaceful settlement of the conflict without exception. An important step to resolve the conflict is the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops illegally stationed on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Moldova," stated Adrian Belucel.
Groundless accusations
The head of the presidential administration also noted that Chisinau's or Kyiv's accusations of the energy situation in the region are manipulative and false. According to him, the problems with gas supplies are exclusively related to the refusal of Russian Gazprom to fulfill its obligations, and not to the actions of the governments of Ukraine or Moldova.
"The government is working intensively on solutions to support citizens affected by the crisis, regardless of the region. All the people of the Republic of Moldova are our citizens and will be supported in these difficult moments," said Adrian Belucel.
It should be noted that the information that Moldova is preparing to seize one of the Transnistrian power plants by force was spread by the Russian internal intelligence service.
As a reminder, Moldova has declared a state of emergency for 60 days, starting on December 16. The authorities are expecting provocations from Transnistria with the help of Russia due to the expected termination of Russian gas supplies on January 1.
We also reported that Moldova should insist that the agenda of the upcoming peace talks between Ukraine and Russia include an item on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria. This option is being considered in Kyiv and Chisinau.
