Crimean bridge left unprotected — details
In a month, half of the barges disappeared from the Kerch Strait. The Russians were installing them as a booby trap to protect themselves from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones.
This was reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism.
Mysterious disappearance
According to the investigators, satellite images from early November show 34 barges on both sides of the shipping channel, which the Russians lined up in two rows and fastened together. But the December photos show only 18 barges. It is unknown where the rest went.
The Crisis Group notes that the Russian Federation first began using barges as booby traps in the fall of 2023. Their goal was to protect the Crimean bridge from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have recently dealt a powerful blow to the occupiers in Crimea. It also became known how to destroy the Crimean bridge.
