The enemy's attempt to break through to the right bank of the Kherson region failed on December 20. There have been no new tries since then. Ukrainian defense lines in the south have proven to be effective.

This was stated by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, Head of the Internal and Information Policy Department of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, on Ranok.LIVE.

Defense of the South

According to the spokesperson, the first line of defense on the right bank began to be built immediately after the de-occupation of Kherson. Both military and municipal equipment were involved in the construction. The second line is now almost complete — most of the work was done in the summer.

"Our defenders are ready for anything. And that "offensive", in quotation marks, which took place on December 20 under massive artillery fire, was choked off before it even started. We are not seeing any new ones yet," says Oleksandr Tolokonnikov.

At night and in the morning of December 20, Russians massively shelled Kherson, and enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups tried to break through to the right bank of the Dnipro. However, the attack was stopped by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The Kherson Regional Military Administration claims that the occupiers were trying to sow panic among the population of the region.

To sum up, the Armed Forces explained the conditions under which a new major Russian offensive in southern Ukraine is possible. We also wrote that the enemy is not abandoning its plans to seize Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
