A driver who ran over three National Guardsmen was tried in Odesa. The prosecutor tried to convince the judge that the man was also finishing off the injured people. But the court decided that, on the contrary, he was trying to save them.

Journalists of Novyny.LIVE found out about this from the verdict of the Suvorovske District Court of Odesa.

Case details

According to the court materials, the driver of an Opel at the intersection of Kyshynivska Street and Dobrovolskyi Avenue ran over three National Guardsmen who were on duty. They were injured and were helpless. The driver got out of the car and hit the two injured men in the chest several times. He was detained the next day. The man was accused of beating law enforcement officers.

What the court decided

During the court hearings, the accused denied his guilt. He claimed that he was trying to help the injured. The man allegedly beat them in the chest to prevent their hearts from stopping. He also explained that he had no medical knowledge or skills, so he acted as he considered necessary. In his defense, the driver recalled that he did not flee the scene of the incident, but, on the contrary, ran out onto the roadway and began calling for help.

The judge agreed with the arguments of the accused and fully acquitted him.

Let us recall that a soldier was tried for hitting his commander in the Chernihiv region. We also wrote about a mass brawl in an Odesa restaurant.
