The division of mine-clearing ships of the Ukrainian Navy will be replenished with at least five ships. Two of them have already been transferred to Ukraine, although they cannot yet enter the Black Sea. Three more will be transferred in the near future.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Naval Forces of the AFU Dmytro Pletenchuk.

New ships

According to the spokesman, two Ukrainian ships are currently in Scotland. It was previously reported that these are the minesweepers "Chernihiv" and "Cherkasy". Ukraine received them from the UK back in 2022. Currently, they have already undergone training and are in service, but they cannot enter the Black Sea.

Dmytro Pletenchuk said that three more ships are currently being prepared for transfer.

"There is already a division of minesweepers, but it will be replenished at the expense of these units. These are at least five minesweepers, which is already quite serious. Considering the dangers that we have in the Black Sea associated with mining, they will have enough work for years, unfortunately," the spokesman noted.

It should be reminded that Ukrainian sailors successfully tested the corvette "Ivan Mazepa", which will soon become the flagship of the Navy. The Australian government will also transfer 14 highly maneuverable RHIB boats with a rigid hull to Ukraine. They are supposed to strengthen the country's maritime defense.
