Late in the evening, Romania sent four F-16 and F-18 fighters into the sky. An unknown aircraft was spotted in the country's airspace. It is likely to be a Russian drone.

This was reported by the Reuters news agency.

According to the publication, radar detected an object flying from the Black Sea crossing the country's land border. Two Romanian F-16 fighter jets and two Spanish F-18s took to the skies. Although the pilots failed to detect the drone, residents of Constanta County were notified of the danger.

On Friday morning, the Romanian military began searching for a possible crash site.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of October 18, Russia attacked Ukraine with 135 Shahed drones and unidentified types of drones. The aerial assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces. Ukrainian defenders shot down 80 enemy UAVs in the regions of Odesa, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Kharkiv, Kherson, Volyn, and Vinnytsia.

It is not the first time that Russian drones have flown into Romanian airspace.

We also reported that Denmark will provide Ukraine with another batch of F-16 aircraft.
