UK to allocate money to protect Greater Odesa ports — details
The United Kingdom will allocate 120 million pounds to support a maritime coalition to protect Ukraine's grain corridor. The country's leadership states that this is a matter of global security.
This is stated in a message on the official website of the UK government.
Looking for partners
London has decided to allocate new funding amid intensified Russian attacks on Odesa ports and civilian vessels. The United Kingdom is looking for partners to purchase surface drones and surveillance radars to protect the sea corridor. In addition, together with Norway, the country plans to allocate another £100 million to finance other security projects.
Global security is being held hostage
According to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Russia is willing to jeopardize global food security to force Ukraine to surrender.
"Putin is harming millions of vulnerable people across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East in an attempt to gain the upper hand in his barbaric war," the government leader stated.
Specifically, Starmer recalled that a Russian missile damaged a vessel carrying vegetable oil to Palestine as part of the World Food Program.
It is worth noting that despite Russian shelling, Odesa remains Ukraine’s only logistics hub. Additionally, it has been reported that defense and security measures for personnel in Odesa's ports will be strengthened.
