Three young residents of the capital came to Odesa to set fire to apartments on request. Now they could end up in jail for ten years.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa Region on Wednesday, October 23.

Easy money

According to the investigation, a Kyiv resident received a request to set fire to an apartment on Nebesna Sotnia Avenue in Odesa via messenger. He was promised to be paid 200 thousand UAH for this. The young man involved two acquaintances in the case. Together, they came to Odesa and rented a hotel room.

On the night of the crime, the organizer remained in the room and managed the operation by phone. His accomplices made their way to the entrance of the apartment building, climbed to the second floor, placed a car tire near the apartment door and set it on fire. The fire was noticed by the 63-year-old homeowner and her neighbors. They called rescuers. They extinguished the flames, but they managed to damage the front door and meters.

What will happen to the arsonists

The criminals filmed their actions and returned to the capital the next morning. They filed a report with the client. They were detained by Kyiv police on the same day. One of them is currently in custody, the second is under house arrest, and the third paid UAH 242,200 in bail and was released. They face up to 10 years in prison for intentional arson.

As a reminder, saboteurs who burned military vehicles and railway equipment will be prosecuted in Odesa. In addition, in the Odesa region, a patient set fire to a hospital because he was offended by injections.
