We must not forget —Holocaust victims honored in Odesa, photos
Odesa marked the anniversary of one of the largest crimes of World War II — the brutal mass murder of thousands of Jews. A memorial ceremony took place at the commemorative monument.
This was reported by the Odesa City Hall.
Participants in the ceremony included members of the regional Association of Jewish Former Ghetto Prisoners, descendants and relatives of the victims, as well as representatives of the authorities and concerned residents of Odesa.
Burned alive
Exactly 83 years ago, on October 23, 1941, the Nazi occupiers burned alive more than 25 thousand Odesa Jews on the territory of artillery depots at the 3rd station of the Lustdorf Road. Now there is a monument to the victims of Nazism there.
As a reminder, Odesa celebrated the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. Odesa residents were also told about the 86 days of defense of Mariupol.
