What is known
According to the regional prosecutor's office, a two-story building housing private enterprise workers and production facilities was destroyed. Local residents report that it was a farm where champignon mushrooms were grown.
First-responders rescued four people from the rubble. A 43-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man, and a 16-year-old girl died in the rubble. Another woman died in hospital from her injuries.
Ten people were injured, nine of them were hospitalized. According to doctors, four of the victims are in serious condition.
Rescue operation
According to Maryna Averina, a spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service, rescuers had a very difficult time. They did not even have accurate information about how many people were in the destroyed building. In addition, the air raid alarm sounded again as the injured were being brought down from the second floor. Since the State Emergency Service had already lost rescuers and equipment in repeated strikes, it was necessary to evacuate immediately.
"There was not enough space. There were a lot of people, panic, everyone was screaming, and it made it very difficult to work," says Maryna Averina.
The rescuers were assisted by police officers, representatives of the Red Cross, and local residents.
