A young man burned Ukrainian flags in Odesa — the reason for the act
The young man was burning flags in honor of the fallen soldiers in the European Square and at the same time saying some incomprehensible things. After his arrest, he gave rather strange explanations for his act.
This was reported in the General Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region on Thursday, October 10.
Fiery prayer
The young man was spotted around midnight by the National Guard. He managed to burn more than 50 flags. He called his act a prayer for peace and commemoration of the fallen defenders.
"I prayed like this, I prayed. For Ukraine, first of all, for the national emblem," the detainee said.
Criminal streak
Previously, the young man was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for violating the curfew, smoking and drinking alcohol in prohibited places. And the day before, he stole a tablet from a visitor of an exchange point on Rishelievska Street.
"Well, I would like to have a device, at least some kind," he explained.
Now the young man will be prosecuted for desecration of state symbols. He is at risk of spending the next eight years in prison.
It should be noted that this is not the first attempt to desecrate Ukrainian symbols on the European Square. Previously, we mentioned that the woman who tried to hang the Russian flag on the site of the former monument to Catherine II will be punished. She turned out to be an experienced collaborator.
Another woman, who also stained the flags in honor of fallen soldiers on the European Square, was declared wanted. She regularly did not appear at court sessions.
