Night of terror — how Odesa survived Russian shelling, photos

On the night of November 15, Odesa was attacked by Russian missiles and attack drones. The enemy again hit residential areas. The apartments of civilians were damaged.

Novyny.LIVE journalists saw the extent of the destruction and talked to the residents.

Children in hysterics

Kateryna from Odesa with her family left their apartment during the attack because it was too scary to stay at home.

"Children are hysterical. This is the second time the school has been damaged — no windows left. It's a sh...t, no other comments," she says.

At home, Kateryna's windows were smashed and it is not yet known the roof condition. However, the woman and her family will sleep in their apartment the next night.

"It's okay, we'll live," she says.

 

"I was lucky"

Svitlana from Odesa has a husband who is fighting at the front. During the attack, she hid in the toilet and says it saved her life.

"It (Shahed — Ed.) buzzed and then became quiet. I was warned: if it's quiet, then get ready to group. And then it hit, but I was lucky," she says.

The explosion also scared Svitlana's cats. The animals hid for several hours after the explosion.

In a state of panic

People reacted differently to what was happening, says Maryna Averina, a spokeswoman for the regional office of the State Emergency Service. Some were in a state of severe panic. They recieved phsycological help.

"There was an elderly woman who did not understand what to do. She was just sitting there in her summer shoes, and she was not allowed to go to the apartment. She said she would sit there until they let her into the home. But we persuaded her and took her to the point of invincibility," says Marina Averina.

As a reminder, as a result of the Russian attack on Odesa on the night of November 15, residential buildings and public institutions were damaged. A 35-year-old woman was killed and 10 people were injured.
