On Tuesday, October 15, the threat of strikes from Russian missile carriers on the Odesa region increased. Enemy ships equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles were deployed to the Black Sea. The total missile salvo capacity of these ships could reach up to eight.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy.

How many ships are on duty?

  • in the Black Sea, there are three enemy ships, including two equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to eight missiles;
  • there are no enemy ships in the Azov Sea;
  • in the Mediterranean, there are three enemy ships, two of which are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 12 missiles.

What Russian missile carriers did Ukraine sink during the war?

Missile Cruiser "Moskva" (Project 1164 "Atlant"):

  • The flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, struck by two "Neptune" coastal defense missiles near Zmiinyi Island on April 13, 2022.

Small Missile Corvette "Askold" (Project 2280.0 "Karakurt"):

  • Struck by SCALP-EG cruise missiles at the Zaliv shipyard in Kerch. The vessel was put out of commission on November 4, 2023.

Missile Boat R-334 "Ivanovets" (Project 12411M):

  • Sunk on Lake Donuzlav following an attack by surface kamikaze drones on January 31, 2024.

Small Missile Corvette "Serpukhov" (Project 2163.1 "Buyan-M"):

  • Disabled due to a fire caused by a special operation conducted by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine at the naval base in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region, on April 7, 2024.

Submarine B-237 "Rostov-on-Don" (Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka"):

  • Sank on August 2, 2024, after sustaining damage from a missile strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the port of Sevastopol.

What missile carriers did Ukraine damage? 

Small Missile Corvette "Veliky Ustyug" (Project 2163.1 "Buyan-M"):

  • Hit on June 14, 2022. After repairs, it returned to the Caspian Flotilla.

Small Missile Hovercraft "Samum" (Project 1239 "Sivuch"):

  • Attacked by Sea Baby surface kamikaze drones in Sevastopol Bay on September 14, 2023. The ship was towed for repairs with significant damage.

As a reminder, the Russians are preparing a new assault in southern Ukraine. It has become known where the attack will come from.  

Yesterday, on October 14, Russia launched a missile attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa. A civilian was killed.
